I just recieved a box of these in the mail today....great looking box!  The only thing I hate about this time of year is opening a box and feeling the hot air rush out of it.....

Anyway, I have a bad habit of smoking one from the box as soon as I get them.  At least i let it cool off...this is something I can't help, I know, it is a bad habit but they just look soooo good!

Smoked one and I have to say it wasn't bad, especially after being put through the abuse of traveling in summer.  Nice earthy aroma with a good amount of spice through the nose and a gradual build in body that lingers long after the smoke is out, but not overbearing.  I'm looking forward to these after some quiet time in the humidor!

I have a bunch of their Habana stuff in my Humi at home. I still have yet to try any of the Cuban Partagas's though. All of it is 2005 sticks so I'm trying to be as patient as possible. But that PSP2 is calling my name eerytime I look at it. Dave, smoke me buddy, just smoke me.

Maybe next year for my Bday or Christmas eve. I'll have to break the christmas eve ritual of an Opus X after the kids presents from Santa are up.

    How 'bout a Fresca?

I like that ritual!  This box is from 04, I asked for the oldest one....I enjoy partagas, I still need to try some of the P's, have you smoked any of those yet?

You know its weird but I haven't. They are the next to most abundant cubans marca that is in my humi (h.upman is the most after a box split w/ Barochris) but I still haven't smoked any yet. The last one I had (cuban that is) was a punch pc from 2004 that was pretty good, but not great. I'm looking forward to a PSD4 this July on the cape that I promised my brother in law.

That's the One box of smokes I can't keep in my humidor more than two months...I always tell my self I'm going to let them sit for a while, but they are just so damn good right out of the box....I do keep one cigar from each box I get, soon I'll have a full box from every box I've bought!  I date each one so I know how long I've had them....

Dumb question, but what does the "Varnished" mean?
  •  10-13-2006, 11:37 AM

Varnished actually means that the box is varnished.  Because it is varnished, it seals the box, and slows the aging process of the cigars.
